2nd Amendment

Liberal Media Reports 5 Shootings on “Gun Appreciation Day” – Chicago Per Capita Daily Shootings 17,200% Greater

Another perfect example of the simplistic and idiotic thinking of childish liberals.

Think Progress has put out a mocking article about the number of people who were accidentally shot on “Gun Appreciation Day”:

If the gun advocates behind this year’s inaugural Gun Appreciation Day had hoped to use the day’s festivities to build support for their anti-regulation platform, they are going to have to wait another year. Emergency personnel had to be called to the scene of the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, North Carolina after a gun accidentally discharged and shot two people at the show’s safety check-in booth just after 1 pm.

Notice that this was a gun show - not an official “Gun Appreciation Day” event. They purposely included shootings that had nothing to do with the planned celebration of our 2nd Amendment Rights.

But that’s the least of the perfidy.

Yes. Perfidy.

While their sycophantic and infantile liberal followers tweet gleefully about gun owners being shot, they fail to put the percentage of shootings in any kind of perspective. Why is that? Is it a lack of mathematical understanding or pure intellectual dishonesty?

I think both.

So let’s help them out.

Five shootings in a populace of 315 Million on one day of the year comes to 0.00000001587, which is pretty tiny.

Now let’s take the per capita chance that a person will be shot on any given day in a city with very high gun control, like, oh, how about Obama’s favorite town, Chicago? Last year, there were 2,698 shooting in the city of Chicago, which has a population of 2.7 million.

That comes to a daily per capita chance of .000002737 of being shot in Chicago, Obama’s town.

So if we simply divide the chance of being shot on Gun Appreciation Day and divide it by the chance of us being shot on the progressive, anti-gun streets of Chicago, we find that you’re 172 times as likely to be shot in Chicago.

That’s means you’re 17,200% more likely to get shot in Chicago than on “Gun Appreciation Day.” But will you hear that from Think Progress? No – they’d rather contribute to the childish short-minded shallow intellectual atrophy of Americans in order to push their political agenda than actually get anywhere near intellectual honesty.

Let’s make it even more easy for the stupid liberals:

On account of the ratios of diameters to areas in circles, the smaller circle doesn’t really seem like 172 times smaller than the larger circle, but trust me, it is!!!

So in conclusion, when you see some dim-witted mathophobic idiot liberal gleefully remark on how many gun-owners were shot on “Gun Appreciation Day,” please take the time to slap them in the face with some facts and wisdom.

Thank you.

Yes, they are apartheid preachers. They major in the minors and minor in the majors.

Wow. Any rationalization to hold to your absurd position. Even the fox who was after the grapes would be amazed. More fruit than the sophist tree has a right to bear. (After shooting off its arms, leaving the trunk bare.)

You’re comparing apples and oranges. If you want a true percentage of gun show shootings, take the number of people attending the shows vs. accidental shooters, not the entire US population. It’ll still be far less than Chicago.

As it is, you just weaken your argument with stacked numbers. Don’t do that. We need all the credibility we can get and this is not helpful.
