Obama Nailed On Ignorance of Judicial Review at AP Dinner

At the Q&A after Obama addressed the Associate Press Luncheon today, an intrepid and brave reporter challenged Obama on his petulant denial of the Supreme Court’s power of Judicial Review:

The question began with:

“Mr. President, you said yesterday that it would be unprecedented for the Supreme Court to overturn laws passed by an elected congress, yet that is exactly what the court has done during it’s entire existence…”

So.. that’s embarrassing.

He continued:

“if the court were to overturn individual mandate, what would you do, or propose to do for the 30 million people who wouldn’t have healthcare, after that ruling?”

Obama goes on to stumble and mumble through his answer with many stretches of silence, trying to justify his statements that had painted him into a corner of stupidity.

In answering, he  makes it clear that his will determines constitutionality, not the constitution that should guide his legislation:

“So, the burden is on those who would overturn a law like this.”

And, as he has said before, he is so confident that the court would never go against our Dear Leader’s iron commands, that:

“We’re not spending a lot of time planning for contingencies.”

Because that’s responsible governance.

After bumbling for a few minutes, he demagogues the issue by an emotional appeal, starting with “I get letters every day by people who are effect by the health care law…” as if constitutional issues should be settled based on who can write the sappiest letter, not the law that the founders established our country with.

This should surprise no one who remembers Obama’s views on the Constitution…
