More Liberal Sympathy For Terrorist Murderer Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, From Artist Amanda Palmer

I honestly don’t understand why liberals run so quickly to sympathize with terrorists.

Amanda Palmer is a very quirky alternative rock artist who gained some fame while playing in the Dresden Dolls, and has since turned into an extremely un-traditional unorthodox performance artist with a loyal following and an interactive online presence.

This afternoon she tweeted out this sympathetic poem for the captured terrorism suspect Dzhohhar Tsarnaev:

I understand that the world isn’t black and white, but sometimes people become so radicalized into committed acts of heinous evil against their fellow man, that I don’t think we should have any sympathy about trying to understand them, apart from doing so in order to prosecute them and stop others like them. Some artists are such overflowing kneejerk founts of emotey-ness that they splurge emotion on everything and everyone their teary-eyed gaze meets. Including terrorists:

you don’t know how many vietnamese soft rolls to order.
you don’t know how convinced your parents were that having children would be, absolutely, without question, the correct thing to do.
you don’t know how precious your iphone battery time was until you’re hiding in the bottom of the boat.
you don’t know how to get away from your fucking parents.
….
you don’t know where your friends went.
you don’t know how to dance but you give it a shot anyway.
you don’t know how your life managed to move twenty six miles forward and twenty eight miles back.
you don’t know how to pay your debts.
you don’t know how to separate from this partnership to escape and finally breathe.
you don’t know how come people run their goddamn knees into the ground anyway.
you don’t know how to measure the value of the twenty dollar bill clutched in your hurting hand.
you don’t know how you walked into this trap so obliviously.
you don’t know how to adjust the rearview mirror.
you don’t know how to mourn your dead brother.
you don’t know how to drive this car.
you don’t know the way to new york.
you don’t know the way to new york.

Of course, her similarly emotionally hyper-abled followers splurged in unison with her:

  Oh the humanatee!!!

Next up, Hitler needs a hug, Pol Pot was just having a bad day. Stalin overwhelmed with pet peeves. Mao stubbed his toe. We just need to understand them!

So brave. I can feel his compassionate humanity just splooging forth as he tearfully combs his ponytail.

Oh wow.. I just checked – he actually DOES HAVE A PONYTAIL!!! I wrote that completely in jest thinking he didn’t!!! Wow I’m good.

I don’t think I’ve ever made the bad decision to make a pressure cooker bomb and place it next to an eight-year old in a crowd in order to maximize murder and mayhem. But then again, who knows what I do when I black out drunk. Hmmm.

I have a feeling Lauren does this crying thing a lot. Like. Every day. Over everything.

Guh. Her fans are a huge pool of every crazy insane ex-girlfriend we’ve regretted dating.

So that’s special. The only thing left to say is that Christ does indeed tell us to pray for our enemies’ sake – but should we immediately cry tears of sympathy over those that commit great evil?

I’m gonna go with no on that one.

UPDATE:

I was trying to remember a saying that Dennis Prager quotes often in relation to this post, and my good friend ConservativeLA found it for me:

The wise — as opposed to most of the highly educated — know, among many other things, that when you give people something for nothing, you produce ungrateful people; that when you obscure the differences between men and women, you end up with many aimless men and angry women; that when you give children “self-esteem” without their earning it, you produce narcissists who enter adulthood incapable of handling life; that if you do not destroy evil, it will proliferate; and that if you are kind to the cruel, you will be cruel to the kind.

Exactly right… the kind of hand-wringing overly emotional existential ennui that inspires these responses to evil disable us to look at it squarely and defeat it.

Not all evil can be “understood” – some of it just needs to be extinguished.

Sorry hippies.

Also, some of her followers have taken a very surprisingly unsympathetic view to my criticism!! Yes, you see, because I criticize their emotey-god, I am the hater, and should be reviled!
