VIDEO: Kardashian Mom Slams Obama For Comments Against Success and Ambition

Kim Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner defended her while criticizing Obama for his comments that derided successful celebrities to great applause on her new show Kris.

Obama had blamed celebrities for the deleterious affect they have on children during an interview with Amazon:

“Kids weren’t monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing or where Kanye West was going on vacation,” Obama explained, “and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success.”

Kris Jenner hit hard when she pointed out that many of these celebrities worked very hard to get where they are, but she was especially spot on when criticizing the anti-success attitude behind Obama’s comments:

“I wasn’t aware that you could only set the bar so high and that we could only dream so big.

I was taught ‘dream big, work hard, and you could have whatever you want.’

And I thought, ‘wow I bet the president has some friends with 10,000 square foot houses and you probably wouldnt mind going over there, mister president, while you were asking them to have a party for you when you were campaigning for dollars to run for president.

I was thinking about her 10,000-square-foot house, and I thought, ‘Wow, her job affords her to live in a 10,000-square-foot house’. And I think, if I’m not mistaken, Mr President’s job affords him to live in a 55,000-square-foot house.

I find it so odd that he’s picking on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Kanye West, first of all, doesn’t go on vacation, ever. And Kim Kardashian is the hardest-working young lady in the world. She never sleeps, she never stops, she never slows down and works so hard for what she’s got.

You poke at someone and criticize someone for living a lifestyle – I’m sure when he was growing up his dream was, “One day, I want to become President of the United States, and have this wonderful fabulous life and that was his dream.

Y’know, Bruce Jenner’s thing is ‘dream big, work hard’ and we all want to aspire and do whatever we want. And i just dont think its such a bad thing to want to be our best, and do our best, and have nice things.

Kris Jenner’s critique of Obama is surprisingly lucid and insightful, even though her comments about how exactly Kim Kardashian gained her fame are rather… suspect.

One thing she doesn’t point out is how one of Obama’s wealthy friends, Jay-Z campaigned for him on a regular basis – why no criticism of his success, but disdain for Kanye West? In fact, one of his houses is 30,000 square feet and counts among the priciest in the Hamptons.

She added also that a consequence of success is employment – one thing Obama is struggling to “create” himself:

It dawned on me after reading that story that we employ and give jobs to hundreds and hundreds of people, just on “keeping up with the Kardashians” alone, and I think that’s a wonderful thing!

When it comes down to it, both have a point – Obama is right that too many kids dream of being famous without accepting the hard work it takes to be successful. But Jenner’s comments hit right at the heart of the philosophical failing of Obama to understand how excellence in the private industry is a dream that should be encouraged without limits.

This ideal of hard work and innovation has proven to raise hundreds of millions of people all around the world out of debilitating poverty – why can’t Obama embrace and encourage it?
