You’re Fired! New Lead Contractor In To Fix Broken Obamacare Website

cgi-kicked out

Yet another episode in the continuing saga of Obamacare crumbling. After months of delays and complaints from those trying to use the website, the lead contractor has been dropped for for another company.

The Obama administration is cutting ties with contractor CGI Federal over its handling of the problem-plagued HealthCare.gov, months after the troubled Oct. 1 launch.

The decision to move from CGI Federal to Accenture was confirmed Saturday by a statement from the the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.

But haven’t they reassured us that everything is just fine and dandy with the website? If there are no problems, why are they switching contractors?

“As CMS moves forward in our efforts to help consumers access quality, affordable health coverage, we have selected Accenture to become the lead contractor for the HealthCare.gov portal and to prepare for next year’s open enrollment period,” the statement read.

The contract will cost the taxpayers another $90 million thrown into the money pit called HealthCare.Gov. At least they’re changing the people who will be shoveling our hard-earned money into the gaping maw of a disastrous healthcare portal.

After years of preparation and millions already spent, here’s what the new contractor has to look forward to fixing:

…the site continues to malfunction in other ways. For instance, it is not yet able to automatically enroll people eligible for Medicaid in states’ programs, compute exact amounts to be sent to insurers for their customers’ federal subsidies or tabulate precisely how many consumers have paid their insurance premiums and are therefore covered.

Of all the stupid things government wastes money on, at least this one helps manifest to Americans how badly a federal government does when it tries to run our lives. It’s almost worth the price tag.
