Sharyl Attkisson Calls Out Politico’s Dylan Byers on Gov’t Hacking Her Computer
Former CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson announced that she is suing the government over what appears to be hacking of her computer, which she’s documented many times. Some might expect that other journalists might be appreciative that she’s defending the privacy rights of the press. But not surprisingly, some “journalists” would rather attack her, because Obama needs all the help he can get.
One such is Politico’s Dylan Byers:
#Realtalk: If you believe U.S. gov hacked your computers this isn’t the way you go about doing it… if you want publicity, on the other hand
— Dylan Byers (@DylanByers) January 5, 2015
Then Attkisson shot back:
It's a propaganda trend described in the book: interests attacking and controversializing those who question authority. @DylanByers

@DylanByers says suing the govt. is no way to hold them accountable for suspected computer intrusions–but didn't suggest "right" way.

@DylanByers After FOI requests unanswered, Congressional queries unanswered, public info withheld, secret FBI investigation & more…
— Sharyl Attkisson (@SharylAttkisson) January 5, 2015
@DylanByers may think it's best to wait and see if the govt. files charges against itself.

I sense some sarcasm…
@EdMorrissey @DylanByers He's just mad at me. So not much nice will be said. Would be so interesting if same scrutiny would be applied to
— Sharyl Attkisson (@SharylAttkisson) January 5, 2015
And she offers an alternate theory about his motivations in bashing her lawsuit:
@DylanByers is still a bit upset over getting called out over the misleading @politico article http://t.co/VfpcSFTFGY
— Sharyl Attkisson (@SharylAttkisson) January 5, 2015
Dylan’s response to her perfectly reasonable question? He’s going to lunch:
there are folks in my twitter feed who are drawing comparisons between James Risen and Sharyl Attkisson. i’m going to lunch
— Dylan Byers (@DylanByers) January 5, 2015
I think I’m on team Attkisson:
Be skeptical of those who attack those blowing the whistle or asking tough questions–instead of the public officials implicated.
