Mexican President Calderon Advises US to Strengthen Gun Control after Colorado Shooting
Outgoing President Felipe Calderon tweeted his condolences to America over the terrible murders of innocents in Colorado:
Expreso mis condolencias al pueblo norteamericano por la tragedia de Aurora, Colorado.
— Felipe Calderón (@FelipeCalderon) July 21, 2012
Mighty decent of him. Apparently 260 of his nearly 2 million followers agreed with the sentiment, as they retweeted the message. But then the moron had to ruin it with this:
Por la tragedia de Aurora, Colorado, el Congreso Americano debe revisar su equivocada legislación en materia de armas. Nos daña a todos. — Felipe Calderón (@FelipeCalderon) July 21, 2012
Reuters offered a good translation:
Because of the Aurora, Colorado tragedy, the American Congress must review its mistaken legislation on guns. It’s doing damage to us all.
Many more agreed with this sentiment than the condolences, as 1,770 retweeted this message.
Calderon should try to fix his own problems before he tries to pin the blame on us. If our gun manufacturing is the problem, then why is Mexico’s murder rate 3 times higher as the US? Every country will have insane murderers like the Colorado shooter, but it takes a special breakdown into corruption to be as bad off as Mexico.
The last time I checked, Mexico wasn’t trying to keep American citizens from illegally streaming into their country.
Calderon just shows the easiest route of a cowardly politician when faced with a difficult problem – find a scapegoat to blame it on.
Mexican Prez @FelipeCalderon Uses Colorado Horror to push for US Gun Control – dont you have a drug war to fight? bit.ly/LG9vQ3 #tcot
