Another example of how ridiculous the media is in their uncompromising struggle to distort the truth in order to make sure Obama wins and Conservatives lose.

Today it’s being widely reported that Romney had a moment were he was amazed at the existence of WAWAs, a convenience/gas store, and the electronic touchtone ordering of sandwiches. They have spun this to make it seem like he’s out of touchBUT THE VIDEO IS EDITED DECEPTIVELY:

In actuality, Mitt was contrasting the ridiculous over-regulation of the public sector, with the efficiency of the private sector, and used the electronic ordering system at WAWAs as an example – here’s the FULL video from a Ron Paulestinian [thanks StarkStone!] in the crowd:

His speech begins at about 40 seconds in:

“By the way, where do you get your hoagies here, do you get them at WAWAs?… Well I want to a place today called WAWAs, have you ever been to WAWAs? I know some people haven’t…. We went to WAWAs and it was instructive to me, because I saw the difference between the private sector and the governmental sector. People who work in government are good people and I respect what they do, but you see, the challenge with government is that it doesn’t have competition.”

“So we find ways to do things better or we lose jobs to each other.”

He goes into a story about how an optometrist has to send in 33 pages of pages. The Atlantic described it as:

Romney on the stump, at a historic iron furnace in Cornwall, near Lebanon, using the hoagie-ordering experience at the WaWa as a parable for what’s right and wrong in America. (Wrong: a doctor told him that he had to fill out a 33-page change-of-address form, several times, to get the post office to send his mail — including reimbursement checks — to his new location. That is what happens with government-run organizations where you have “no competition.” Right: at WaWa, great hoagies. Also, very efficient touch-pad ordering system. This is what you get with competition.)

Mitt continues in the video at about 2:45:

“And then I was at a WAWAs and ordered a sandwich… you have a touchtone keypad, and you touch that, touch this, go pay the cashier, there’s your sandwich. It’s amazing!”

This is where the media cut the video to distort the truth. GOTCHA, you slimy little maggots!!

“People in the private sector have learned to compete and it’s time to bring some competition to the Federal Government and to get it smaller, and have them respond to the customers, which are YOU!!”

Will they correct this? NO. Doesn’t fit into their plan to destroy any Republican running for office.

Thanks for all who retweeted this story out!!

This is the big deal?? I agree, it was deceptive, no doubt about it… But you guys are making this huge deal about Romney being made to look like he was out of touch because he had never ordered a hoagie from a touchscreen before lol (by the way, wh0 the heck has?? I havent). Meanwhile, he is putting out commercials with Obama supposedly saying “If we keep talking about the economy, we will lose”, I wonder how much outrage was boiling over on these sites at that?  What a joke, Im sorry, this is your proof that you use to try to keep believing your “conservatives r good, liberals and media baaaad” mantra? Try harder folks, try harder…

It’s not about Romney. It’s about deceptive editing by people who claim to report the truth. That is their job. Unfortunately, there is a ‘narrative’.  Smart, cool Democrat vs Out of Touch Republican. There shouldn’t be any kind of narrative.
Sometimes it’s the Villains vs. Victims (Whites and men against women and minorities) Evil Capitalism vs Pristine Environment.
It’s isn’t ever about ‘news’. Reality has nothing to do with the news business, any more than truth.
What’s happening, what makes this story important is that we have seen the man behind the curtain, and they would rather we not pay attention to that wizard.

  9. solange82200 says:

Fair enough. Thank you for the polite response by the way. However, do you have an issue with Fox News doing the same (but reversed, of course) on an almost daily basis? We have entire comedy shows that are able to sustain themselves by poking fun at the mistakes and inaccuracies of Fox News. I’ll see your Evil Capitalism vs. Pristine Environment and raise you Evil Government and lazy blacks on welfare vs. Innocent Victimized Small Town (usually white) America. That is the narrative they feed their watchers day in and out, not only based on the stories they choose to bring to the forefront, but the fact they rarely fact check them and rarely spend any time admitting their mistake.

And you can say its not about Romney all you want, in response to the fact that Romney did exactly the same selective editing. But what you are telling me is that a presidential candidate, who may be soon holding the highest office in the country, is being held to lower standards by you than the media. Hey, Romney did it, no big deal, but the media does it, no way! You are focusing on the favorite rightwing narrative of “evil liberal media”. I just wish I saw the same outrage that I see here at this story, every time Fox News or Romney do the same thing…

  10. solange82200 says:

Really? You have to be kidding. Watch Jon Stewart or Colbert, they have an instance almost daily of this. That is how they make their living almost, poking fun at fox news and it’s falsehoods. One in particular that makes me laugh is when they made a huge deal on fox and friends about the fact the LAPD was using some kind of jet packs, wasting taxpayer money on them! Needless to say, it was utter bull. I think they did later correct it, but there are many more that have gone uncorrected…
