ABC News EMBARRASSES Itself Trying to Protect Hillary and Nail a Republican for Personal Email
ABC went on full on defense of Hillary Clinton when they tried to accuse Representative Jason Chaffetz, a Republican, of having a private email address. But they kinda screwed it up really bad.
Here’s the hit piece on ABC News:
Hillary Clinton isn’t the only official who uses a non-government email address.
A business card obtained by ABC News shows that Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, lists his Gmail address on his official House card.
After it was revealed on Tuesday that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton conducted all of her government business from personal email accounts, personal email has been the topic du jour, and Chaffetz is at the forefront.
Chaffetz, who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, announced Tuesday that his panel would join in an investigation of Clinton’s email use.
And here’s the problem:
The issue isn’t that Hillary had a personal email – any government official can have that, as long as they follow the reporting requirements, which she ignored. The issue is that she ONLY had a personal email and had reporting requirements Chaffetz didn’t.
But they got what they wanted – this headline is still out there and even though it makes them look stupid, it helps the low info voter to see the headline and think, “eh, they all do it, it must not be a big deal.”
It’s really unfortunate because Jon Karl is usually very honest and a middle-of-road reporter. Maybe that’s why they sent him out to run interference for Hillary.
