This is hilarious… glad to see a small business owner stick to his principles. When the Biden advance team asked Chris McMurray if the Vice President could visit his cookie shop, he flatly refused! Here’s why:

“Very simply, ‘you didn’t build that’” McMurray said. “Speaking of small businesses and entrepreneurs all across this country and actually last night my wife was up all night. No sleep, she’s worked a full 24 hours.”

When “Crumb and Get It” said ‘no’, “River City Grill,” just around the corner, said ‘yes’ and has the pictures to prove it, and didn’t care about the politics.

C’mon! You gotta give it up to the guy! He could have gotten lots of press from the Biden visit, but instead took a stand for business!

Here’s the back story, we’re told that shortly after Crumb and Get It told Biden’s advance people ‘no’ — the secret service walked in and told Chris McMurray ”Thanks for standing up and saying ‘no’ — then they bought a whole bunch of cookies and cupcakes.

McMurray said he’s hoping folks will understand he just didn’t want to be part of a photo op for an administration whose policies he doesn’t agree with.

Wow, that’s harsh – even the Secret Service thanked him! Though, maybe they were just still stinging from the Colombian prostitute debacle. In any case, great job Chris! I hope he gets lots of business!!

Tell Chris you appreciate him sticking up to Joe Biden!Like” his Facebook page!!

And if you or someone you know is near Radford, Virginia, make sure to drop by and buy a cookie for America! They’re located at 1154 East Main Street, Radford, VA.

While you’re at it, check out this great pic of Chris and his family on the opening of his business – that’s what builds America!!

When I first started routing people over to the facebook page for “Crumb and Get It”, they had 295 likes. Today, Thursday as of 9:30 AM, they have 1,931 likes! Great job everyone… thanks for showing your support for that business.

Three hours later, “Crumb and Get It” has 3,083 likes. This is growing faster than the federal debt! [by proportion]

As of 6PM, they have more than 6,000 likes! And I’m hearing reports that they ran out of food because there were so many customers!

The Secret Service has denied making any statement of support to the baker. By the way, their FB page has 9,000 “likes” as of 11AM Friday.

Too bad for Chris and his business! Chris missed an opportunity to question Biden about the statement the President made. He could have been the next Joe the plumber! He most definetely made FOX news and would have sold millions of cookies! Now he is just some small business owner from where?

  7. Does he ship cookies i could email el rushbo I think I will!

@Amy MBA: Do you think he would have even been able to talk openly like that at such a scripted event? Do you think the leftist media whores would have broadcast something like that?

  11. RayZ says:

I think that I might send a check for $25.00 to Crumb and Get It. He can send me $10.00 worth of stuff, I really don’t care what it is or even if it gets here fresh or in one piece. Use whatever of the $15.00 left over for postage and keep the change – just because he stood up for what he believed in and spoke volumes to Mr’s Obama and Biden’s opinion of those of us who struggle daily with the risks and challenges of opening, running and succeeding in our own businesses enterprises!

  12. RufusChoate says:

It was also a good business decision. Obama and Biden visits destroy walk in traffi, disrupt and alienate customers as you polarize your clientele. Look at the Iowa state fair beer tents’s $25,000,loss with the Obama visit. These people are the harpies they don’t just eat the seed corn but defecate on you at the same.

    Boycott River City Grill!

Mr. McMurray – Thank you for putting your principles first. What a great teaching tool this is for all parents to show their children how important it is to stand up for the TRUTH and to not worry about the consequences.

God Bless the McMurray Family and Crumb and Get It with much success in the future. Asking everyone who lives nearby to become a customer, I wished I lived closer. Maybe they can consider doing mail orders.

  20. Jim says:

Or, the Secret Service might have said “Thanks” for the simple reason that (for whatever reason) his store would have posed logistical problems for them.

  21. Melglid says:

Who leaked this to the press? People are trying to say it was Chris being “self serving” and “smug”. Could you look into this. I find it unfair that he stood by his convictions , and now people are calling him “unwelcoming”.

  27. Old_Warhorse says:

I don’t know this gentleman and don’t want to put words into his mouth, but my inclination is to think that he did this for his own principles and, possibly, for the small business owners out there who DID scrape and save and figuratively sweat blood to build their businesses. I’ve got a feeling he wouldn’t necessarily support the big conglomerates who have grown fat off of the government teat and the milk of taxpayer’s dollars given in over priced government contracts. Yes, the government DID ‘build that’ corporate machine which has a tendency to run roughshod right over the small business owners.

  28. americangirl says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I hope more business owners do the same!

Tell me something awesome...
